Well, I’ve just finished my latest book, my third instalment in the Aloha Lagoon Samantha Reynolds mysteries. Samantha and Casey are back and of course there’s another murder. It’s exciting creating new adventures for characters I love. I’m not going to lie though, it can be tough some days. I’ve always written from the seat of my pants, never really having any idea of what my characters are going to say and do. But this time I had an outline. Each chapter was carefully planned to keep the plot moving forward. Sometimes it was refreshing for me, especially on those days when the words weren’t flowing quite as well. But it was also challenging. Samantha is a fun character and more often than not she had a lot to say that didn’t fit in with the plot (no, I’m not crazy, hahaha). I likened keeping her on track to getting a puppy to do what you’d like them to do. It’s lots of fun but sometimes hard work ☺ But I can honestly say that even on those days when things weren’t working as well as I’d like, being an author is still the best job in the world and I can’t imagine doing anything else. My story is off to editing now and the rounds will begin where Sam’s new adventure will be shaped to be the best it can be. I love this part as much as the creation. In fact, I love it more because with each change I know that my story is getting better and better and one step closer to being sent out into the world. I can’t wait for you to read it and hopefully enjoy it as much as I have.
