Well winter definitely hit us this week! It’s freezing! Okay it’s not actually freezing, but it feels that way. We’re lucky here on the Sunshine Coast because we don’t suffer winter that badly, but that doesn’t mean you won’t hear me complain about it. I’m definitely a summer kind of girl!

Don’t get me wrong. I do enjoy a week or two of the cold, where you can snuggle under a blanket, wear your very daggy track pants, and rug up in a soft jumper. But send me out into the wind and the rain and I’ll disappear like ice at the equator. I spent a lot of my teenage years in the North of England, and even though that was quite a while ago (we’re still not talking about that number, alright?!), I remember the days running for the bus, slipping on the ice and showing all and sundry my underwear as I performed the splits that any gymnast would be proud of. Thinking back, I have no idea why I wore a skirt, knitted stockings and leg warmers (yes that was a fashion!), but I did. The heel on my boots acted as an ice pick, stabbing my foot into the slippery footpath in an attempt to stay upright. The wind whipped my unprotected face, and my fingerless gloves offered little to no protection (I now have an understanding as to why I was always freezing. If only I had dressed better!). But fashion determined what I wore. Now? I couldn’t care less as long as I’m warm lol.

Thinking back makes me more and more grateful for the climate I live in, where ten minutes with the air conditioning on reverse cycle and the house is warm. And the fact that I’ve been editing a book set in the tropics of Hawaii! At least I think I’m warm 🙂

Until next time!

Love and hugs

PS: this is a very bad photo of our dog in the snow (seriously, who gave my mother a camera?). I looked and looked for one of me in my snow gear, but then I remembered what I would have looked like and suddenly understood why there isn’t any photographic evidence!
